Split's old town is a 1,700-year-old Roman palace that 3,000 people still call home. The Split Walking Tour takes you through Diocletian's Palace— a UNESCO World Heritage Site — with a licensed local guide who brings every stone to life. From the emperor's retirement here in 305 AD through Byzantine, Venetian and Austro-Hungarian rule, the history is best experienced in the place it actually happened.
Over 1.5 hours you'll explore the underground cellars, the monumental Vestibule, the colonnaded Peristyle square with its ancient Egyptian sphinx, the Golden Gate, People's Square and the charming cobblestone alleys of the Old Town.
